Sludge Burns… Or Does It?

June 17, 2011

No doubt, you have been waiting on pins and needles for the conclusion of this epic saga!

A few posts ago, we showed you pictures of the biomass briquette production. We were still in the research and development phase. Well, the answer to the question “sludge burns, or does it?” is . . . yes!

If the sludge mixture is gooey enough to stick together and sits in the sun long enough to dry out completely, then the briquette burn great and are a very viable alternate fuel source.

The proof is in the using.

Boy scout troop 490 gathered at our house one afternoon with a mission of producing enough briquettes for their upcoming campout. The boys made enough of it, that they didn’t not have to take charcoal or gather wood for cooking while camping.

The other side if this tail is that, we, at ATN have sorted through our vast array of projects and have narrowed our work down. We have fewer projects, but greater focus on them. In short, the biomass briquette production has been put on the ‘back-burner’.
